Home Design Fails That Don’t Make Any Practical Sense

It is surprisingly simple to completely botch a do-it-yourself project. Everyone has failed at some home repair project at some point, from seasoned professionals to inexperienced do-it-yourselfers following YouTube tutorials. However, there are certain people who take their failures to a level that is simply incredible. Many of these catastrophes could have been averted if there had been a second pair of eyes on the situation, a focus on safety, or even a sliver of common sense. These are some of the weirdest examples of botched house design projects that people have had to live with.

Going Down

Getting into this hot tub is a metaphorical representation of what it feels like to drown. It is not a good idea to install a big tank full of water on top of a deck that is tall and is supported on what seem like toothpicks.

Brick Window

At least there isn’t enough room in the window for a ghost to make an appearance! Why someone would chose to construct a brick structure in front of a window or vice versa is a question that can only be answered by scratching their head. Whose interests does it serve?

Close Quarters

The functioning of a kitchen is the single most critical aspect of the space, and given that, this scene leaves a lot to be desired. The fact that the refrigerator, oven, microwave, and pantry are all in close proximity to one another leads us to believe that whoever created the area was not the most skilled chef.

Drive Around

There is nothing quite like creating a gorgeous brick driveway, only to have it get blocked by a pole that was weirdly positioned in the middle of it. Has someone managed to turn a worker at a cable provider into an adversary? There is no alternative explanation for why a power pole would be placed in the middle of a driveway.

Fancy Trap

It makes no difference how elaborate your staircase is if it doesn’t go somewhere, so long as it does lead somewhere. One is left wondering who on earth would intentionally design their house to have a dead end in it. Just a dash of suspicion, please!

One Hot Door

People complain about how loud radiators are and how hot they are, but very few people ever get the chance to experience the ultimate in complaining privileges by actually having a radiator on the back of a door. This one hits the cake when it comes to embarrassingly bad interior design.

Toilet Plug

If you ever find an outlet in a toilet and think to yourself, “Wow! I didn’t realize it was possible,” then you should know that it is not possible at all. Do not put your faith in it. Anyone who is capable of making judgements on electrical matters of this nature cannot be trusted.

Close Proximity

The description of the property stated that the main bedroom had an ensuite, however this takes the meaning of the phrase to an extreme. This strange combination of a bedroom and a bathroom offers no privacy at all. It’s possible that, in the end, the carpet that surrounds the shower will turn out to be the worst aspect.

Need A Level

Do you ever find yourself wondering what would take place if the scaffolding began to slowly sink? You are, after all, observing it right now. Either that, or the bricklayer who was working on this structure fell asleep in the middle of his or her task.

Toilet Seat Confusion

We can only hope that this was just someone playing a practical joke and not a serious attempt to install something. It’s hard to see how somebody could do this by accident, unless they’ve never used a toilet in their entire lives. If that’s the case, then it’s impossible.
