Cleaning your home is a must, no question about it. However, even if you are meticulous about maintaining your space, there are likely some areas or items that you have overlooked. These, too, need to be kept clean to avoid introducing harmful bacteria to your body.
1. Reusable bags
If you’re concerned about your impact on the environment, these bags are a must-have. But research shows that people hardly ever clean them. They might be contaminated with food remains if used to transport meals. If that’s the case, bacteria can spread to and colonize your new items.
It’s best to use a separate bag for each product type and to wash them often in detergent to ensure they stay in pristine shape. They can go in the washing machine in a mesh bag or you can just use soap and water and rub them with your hands. It’s a good idea to use disposable bags for meat and to periodically shake the trash can out.
2. Pot lid handles
Most people merely treat lids like any other kitchen tool and wash them in the dishwasher. Handles, however, tend to accumulate grime because of the groves that form on them. That can cause bacteria to multiply, which is dangerous since then they can contaminate your hands and food.
Periodically unscrew them and soak them in warm water with a sprinkle of vinegar to get them completely clean. The bacteria will be entirely wiped out this way.
These are yet more utensils that frequently get washed without due care, but special attention must be paid because of the tiny holes they feature.
Soaking them in a container filled with clean water and a little detergent for around 15 minutes is the best approach to get rid of the residues. Then, put them in a sink with running water and scrub them with a bristle brush. You can get by with a lot using a pre-sterilized old toothbrush if you don’t have one.
4. Immersion blenders
You have no clue how much odd things can build up in the recesses of your immersion blender’s blades. Cleaning it is as simple as running the blender in a bowl of warm water with a drop or two of dishwashing detergent or soap. The method is really effective.
5. The top of the cabinets and the fridge

8. Garbage bin
No matter what you toss away, your trash can is a potential source of illness in the home. This is particularly the case in the kitchen and bathroom. Not even frequent bag changes can keep rubbish free of grime.
Washing it with water, soap, and a disinfectant product of your choosing is the best method to keep it clean. This will not only eliminate odors, but also any bacteria or diseases that may be lurking in the area. After you’ve performed this job, make sure you give your hands a good wash.
9. Sponge for washing dishes
Surprising as it may seem, these sponges are often a major source of germs in the home due to their frequent contact with both food and water. Even while it’s best to throw them out and buy new ones often, keeping them clean and free of germs by washing them after each use is crucial to keeping them in good condition. 10. Fork grooves
