Disney films are light-hearted, fun and also teach us some interesting moral values. But a Mexican artist named Santiago Esparza, who goes by Sanesparza on Instagram used his talent and vision to recreate Disney scenes and give them a bit of harsh truth that will ruin your inner child.
Sleeping Beauty
In today’s world, a woman like Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, wouldn’t have fallen for that cheesy line that the prince gave her. She probably would have given him the stink face, and told him to buzz off.
The Little Mermaid
Some might say that Sanesparza is critiquing movies like this classic, but he loves these films as much as any other Disney fan. He likes to have a nice laugh, like when he drew this scene of Prince Eric thinking that Ariel was moving too fast. He was right, though!
The Jungle Book
Poor Mawgli got mauled by Baloo, which is admittedly an odd outcome since he’s a sloth bear who only eats honey and berries. But okay. If we can accept Disney’s plot holes, we can accept Sanesparza’s as well.
Tarzan
In the film, Tarzan had perfect teeth and was clean-shaven. But he probably wouldn’t have had any of that or been a total gentleman. That means it’s unlikely that Jane would have fallen head over heels in love with him.
Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs
If Sanesparza teaches us anything with this, it’s that beauty is subjective. There’s no such thing as beautiful or ugly. It’s more of the preference of the individual. But this response from the Mirror would not sit well with the evil queen, let’s be honest.
Beauty and The Beast
True love might have broken the curse and turned the beast back into Prince Adam. But the real world is harsh. So, sadly, the transformation wouldn’t have healed the wound inflicted on the beast by Gaston.
Pinocchio
Geppetto was way too quick to accept the fact that a Blue Fairy had come down from the sky and animated his wooden puppet. In the real world, Geppetto would have had a stroke if Pinocchio came to life.
Frozen
If Elsa had tried using her magic to protect herself from the sword of her enemy, the blade would have shattered her hand and caused her entire body to crumble like an ice statue. Then Elsa would be gone for good, and there wouldn’t be any direct-to-DVD sequels.
Aladdin
Did it ever bother you that Aladdin never considered using Jasmine to get an extra three wishes to fix all that was wrong in the world to get their happy ending? Well in this rendition, Aladdin is clearly smarter.
Alice in Wonderland
Alice might have stumbled down a portal when she fell into a hole while investigating a cavernous opening in a tree. But in the real world, Alice would have found nothing but a dead end and the movie would have ended in ten minutes.
Lady and The Tramp
In the real world, the adorable pooches would have been too busy tearing into that plate of spaghetti with meatballs to get all romantic and share a noodle. It’s every dog for themselves in Sanesparza’s artistic interpretation.
